Aurora Cowl knitting pattern

Check out the Aurora Cowl knitting kit here.

Required skills

Aurora is an easy knitting pattern. You need to be able to:

  • cast on, knit, purl, cast off;
  • knit with two strands of yarn;
  • knit in the round.

Required materials

  • 3 balls of Kidsilk Lace (1 in Vintage Rose, 1 in Glacier, 1 in Monette. Or different colours of your choice);
  • Circular knitting needle 5,0 mm / 60 cm -> I used bamboo tips 5" 5,0 mm and a cable for needle length 60 cm;
  • A stitch marker.

Size

One size fits all. Lying flat, the Cowl is approx. 45 cm wide and 50 cm long.

Pattern

Colour 1 - Monette

Colour 2 - Glacier

Colour 3 - Vintage Rose

Set up:

Start with 2 strands of Colour 1. Take one from the inside of the ball and the other from the outside.

  1. Cast on approx. 120 stitches and join in the round. Mark the start of the row with a stitch marker.
  2. Knit 4 rows of garter stitch (knit one row, purl the other).

From now on you knit only in stockinette stitch, so knit all rows.

  1. Continue approx. 9-10 cm with 2 strands of Colour 1.
  2. Cut off one of the strands of Colour 1. Continue for another 9-10 cm with one strand of Colour 1 and one of Colour 2.
  3. Drop the strand of Colour 1 and continue for another 9-10 cm with two strands of Colour 2.
  4. Cut off one of the strands of Colour 2 and continue for another 9-10 cm with one strand of Colour 2 and one of Colour 3.
  5. Drop Colour 2 and continue for another 9-10 cm with two strands of Colour 3.

Finishing:

  1. Knit the last 4 rows in garter stitch with two strands of Colour 3 (purl one row, knit the other).
  2. Cast off and weave the ends in.
  3. Tadaah like a boss.
