The yarn may feel coarser than you're used to - especially if you're used to those super soft merinos or synthetic fibres. During knitting and when wearing the yarn will become softer over time, but Norwegian wool remains a different type of wool than merino.
The advantage is that it makes hardwearing garments that may last for years. And it's pleasant to knit with, especially colourwork, because of its sturdiness. The disadvantage is that it may not feel as nice when it's directly against the skin.
So it's ideal for vests and jumpers - with or witout a Fair Isle pattern - with a shirt underneath.

Norway is proud of its sheep and wool!
In Norway sheep graze on clean, fresh mountain pastures. The cold Scandinavian climate prevents unwanted bacteria, parasites and other impurities from breeding on the sheep. This eliminates the need for the terrible mulesing process and the (extensive) use of chemicals in the cleansing process.
All animals adapt to their natural habitat. The combination of careful breeding through generations and climatic conditions has resulted in a coarse, bulky wool with a high degree of resilience that we have found to provide the ideal balance between comfort and functionality.
Rauma's wool has been verified by the Environmental Protection encouragement Agency (EPEA) on Cradle to Cradle criteria including energy use, chemical safety, resource use and animal welfare, and is certified according to the standards of the Nordic and European Eco Label.
According to the information we have got Norwegian wool is the only wool in the world who satisfy the criteria for this label.
